About Beaten Docket
A J D Wetherspoon pub on Cricklewood Broadway, its name a nod to the Kingsbury Races once held nearby and the racing term for a losing bet.
The Beaten Docket takes its curious name from horse-racing slang: a beaten docket is a losing betting ticket, a fitting reference to the Kingsbury Races, a fixture that drew thousands of spectators five times a year in the late 19th century to land managed by William Perkins Warner, who also owned the nearby Old Welsh Harp reservoir. As a Wetherspoon it offers the chain's usual mix of reliable cask ale, low prices and step-free, family-friendly access, with a licensed outdoor area on Cricklewood Broadway and extended weekend opening. It has become one of the more dependable stops on a stretch of the Broadway that has seen plenty of pub closures over the years.
