About The De Beauvoir Arms

A single island bar opened out into one large room, bare boards underfoot and a kitchen on show at the back; more pub than restaurant, but the food is the draw.

There has been a pub on this corner since 1854, trading in its time as the Jolly Farmers, the Dog and Dumplings and the Northgate before taking its current name in 2013. Today it is a large Victorian corner pub with a single island bar, bare floorboards and communal wooden tables, run by Stanley Pubs. The kitchen is open to the room and the blackboard menu leans British with a Mediterranean streak, changing with the season. Reviewers praise the welcoming, neighbourhood feel, the dog-friendly attitude and the garden in summer, though some report that food and service can be uneven.
