About Earl of Lonsdale
A Samuel Smith's house named after the AA's flamboyant founding president, serving cask Old Brewery Bitter straight from the cellar casks at famously low prices.
Named for Hugh Lowther, the 5th Earl of Lonsdale and founding president of the Automobile Association, this Samuel Smith's pub keeps faith with the brewery's famously old-fashioned approach: no lager fonts, no music, just cask Old Brewery Bitter served from oak casks and poured at prices that undercut almost everywhere else in Notting Hill. The partitioned Victorian-style interior and unfussy menu of pub classics make it a rare pocket of the old guard on an increasingly polished Westbourne Grove.
