About The Royal Oak
A Victorian corner pub restored by Harvey's of Lewes to resemble the 1850s, with two bare-boarded bars and a dark mild on cask.
This Victorian corner pub on Tabard Street is owned and run by Harvey's of Lewes, who restored it to resemble how it might have looked in the 1850s. It has two bare-boarded bars separated by a former off-sales area, with mahogany fittings and old prints and photographs, and each bar has four handpumps. Upstairs there is a function room, the John Harvey Room, and a quiz runs on Wednesdays. Dogs are welcome. CAMRA's South East London branch named it its Pub of the Year in 2023 and 2025.
On tap
Harvey's of Lewes ales on cask, including Dark Mild and Sussex Best Bitter, with seasonal and guest beers.
Food
Lunchtime and evening meals on selected days.
