About The Swan
A long, narrow one-room pub on a quiet pedestrian lane beside Queen Square, with a cask line-up that goes well beyond the Greene King standards.
The Swan stands on Cosmo Place, a short traffic-free lane just off Queen Square, so its outdoor tables are quieter and less polluted than most in central London. Pub records suggest a tavern has stood on the site since the 1790s, though the present building dates from the 1930s. Inside it is a single long room that opens out towards the back, busy and unfussy, with a large picture-only TV and piped music. It belongs to Greene King, but the cask range reaches well past the house beers, and dogs are welcome.
On tap
Cask ales including Theakston Old Peculier, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Greene King IPA, plus a rotating guest beer.
Food
Pub standards at lunch and in the evening, plus bar snacks.
