About The Gate

A pub on Barnet Road at Hendon Wood Lane, on the site of an inn that has traded since the mid-seventeenth century and is on Barnet's local heritage list.

At the junction of Barnet Road and Hendon Wood Lane, in the hamlet of Barnet Gate, The Gate stands on the site of an inn that has traded since the mid-seventeenth century, when it was known as The Bell. A War Office survey of 1756 names its keeper, and an 1807 drawing shows a thatched cottage with a porch. The building is on Barnet Council's local heritage list. There is a garden, a car park and a function room, and families are welcome.

On tap

London Pride is the regular cask ale, alongside lagers, wines and spirits.
