About The Marksman
A Victorian corner pub run by two St. John-trained chefs, split between a proper boozer downstairs and an acclaimed nose-to-tail dining room upstairs.
Chef-owners Jon Rotheram and Tom Harris, both alumni of St. John, took over this Victorian building and fully renovated it in 2015. In 2017 it became the first London pub ever to win Michelin’s UK & Ireland Pub of the Year, beating more than 500 others for the title. Downstairs stays a proper pub — old-world wine list, jukebox — while the upstairs dining room, designed by Martino Gamper, serves the nose-to-tail British cooking that built its reputation, including oysters and celebrated game pies.
On tap
An old-world-leaning wine list downstairs, alongside cask ale and cocktails.
Food
Acclaimed nose-to-tail British cooking upstairs; a widely praised Sunday roast; a dog-friendly roof terrace.
