About The Tally Ho

A striking gabled 1927 building on North Finchley’s central island, now run by Stonegate with an Indian restaurant attached.

The Tally Ho occupies a wedge-shaped island where Ballards Lane meets the High Road, a site that takes its name from the Tally Ho Coach Company, which kept horses here for the Birmingham mail coach in the 1820s and 30s. The current building dates from 1927 — gabled all round, with period Shavian windows — and was built to replace the old Park Road Hotel. It ran for years as a Wetherspoon before Stonegate took over the lease in 2016, and now shares the space with an Indian restaurant.

On tap
