Sitting right where Dalston, Stoke Newington and Mildmay meet, the Army & Navy was a Truman’s house in its earlier years and has kept the feel of a proper, unpretentious community local ever since. It was named Time Out’s Best Pub in London for 2024, before handing the title on to the Old Nun’s Head the following year — recognition that leaned heavily on its reputation as a genuinely welcoming, queer-friendly neighbourhood boozer rather than anything flashy.
