About Bricklayers Arms
A small pub with a timber-framed façade tucked down a narrow Fitzrovia street, once nicknamed 'Burglars' Rest'.
Its local nickname, 'Burglars' Rest', comes from a decades-old story: a gang who had broken in to rob the place fell asleep inside after drinking too much, and were arrested at dawn. The pub, with its distinctive timber-framed and exposed-brick façade, keeps two bar rooms — front and back — a dartboard and an upstairs lounge, with a very neighbourhood feel despite sitting just minutes from Oxford Street. It's part of the small collection of pubs run by the independent Samuel Smith's brewery in central London, recognisable by its understated décor and modest prices. It's a regular stop on Fitzrovia pub-crawl routes thanks to its intimate size and its tucked-away spot on Gresse Street.
On tap
Beers from Samuel Smith's; the pub doesn't typically offer real ale, sticking to the brewery's own draught beers.
Food
A short menu of snacks and simple pub classics.
