About The Clapton Hart
One of Clapton’s oldest pub sites, originally The White Hart from 1722, reopened with a large beer garden after years of closure on a road once nicknamed Murder Mile.
A pub has traded here since 1722, first as The White Hart, becoming a Reid’s Brewery house in the 1890s and later a Bass Charrington pub before closing in 2008. Its return under Urban Pubs & Bars — after a spell run by Antic, which went into administration in 2024 — is a small part of the wider turnaround of Lower Clapton Road, once notorious enough in the 1990s and 2000s to be nicknamed Murder Mile. A large beer garden inside the 18th-century building is the main draw today, alongside a regular Tuesday quiz.
On tap

Food
