About The Clissold Arms

The Fortis Green gastropub, leased by Stonegate, where Ray and Dave Davies of The Kinks — who grew up directly opposite — made their live debut in 1957.

The Davies brothers grew up directly across the road from The Clissold Arms, and Ray and Dave gave their first ever public performance here in 1957, years before they formed The Kinks. The pub has leaned fully into that history: a dedicated Kinks Room displays memorabilia and photographs from the era. It now runs as a family-owned-feeling gastropub under Stonegate's leasehold operation, with tours available for fans wanting the full Kinks pilgrimage alongside a standard modern pub-restaurant menu. The building itself predates the band by well over a century, but it is the 1957 gig that gives it its reason to be on any music fan's map of North London.
