About The Crown and Greyhound

A Grade II-listed Victorian pub built in 1897 for the Cannon Brewery, known locally as "the Dog", with one of South London’s largest pub gardens and rooms upstairs.

Built in 1897 for the Cannon Brewery Company on the site of two earlier, separate pubs — hence the combined name — the Crown and Greyhound is Dulwich Village's grandest pub, a Grade II-listed building with a lavish Victorian interior largely intact. Locals still know it simply as 'the Dog', and its enormous garden, one of the biggest attached to any pub in this part of London, has been drawing crowds since long before beer gardens were fashionable again. A 2013-approved renovation converted part of the building into a small boutique hotel, and the pub now operates under Innkeeper's Collection, running as both a local and a place to stay overnight on the edge of Dulwich Park and the Picture Gallery.
