About Fox and Pheasant

A pub hidden down a private mews, largely unchanged since the 1930s, rescued from closure by singer James Blunt in 2017.

Tucked away down a private mews off the Fulham Road, the Fox and Pheasant has traded under several names since the 1930s — including the Bedford Arms and the Prince of Wales — but has kept much of its cottage-like, fireplace-warmed character throughout. It faced closure before musician James Blunt stepped in as owner in 2017, since when it has built a following for its retractable-roof conservatory, crackling fires and elevated but unfussy British menu, all while staying resolutely low-key for a pub with a genuine celebrity owner.

On tap

A well-chosen wine list and cask ale, best enjoyed by an open fire.

Food

Elevated British comfort food: corn ribs, truffle mushroom toast and proper Sunday roasts.
