About King's Arms

A Grade II listed early-Victorian pub on Roupell Street's row of preserved workers' cottages, keeping rare inter-war bar fittings and a long-running Thai kitchen.

The King's Arms sits at the corner of Roupell Street, one of the best-preserved rows of early-Victorian terraced cottages in London and a favourite backdrop for period film and television shoots set in northern England. Listed Grade II, the pub retains bar fittings from a 1930s refit, among them curved counters and an original tiled fireplace, giving the interior a layered, lived-in feel rare so close to Waterloo station. Eight cask lines and a long-standing Thai kitchen at the back have kept it a serious destination pub rather than a passing-trade boozer, and it was named SE1 CAMRA's District Pub of the Year in 2024. Roupell Street's cottages, the Old Vic and the Young Vic are all within a few minutes' walk.
