About The Hero
A Maida Vale dining pub that traded for years as the well-regarded Truscott Arms before reopening under chef Henry Harris as the Hero of Maida.
For much of the 2010s this handsome corner pub traded as the Truscott Arms, building a strong reputation for ambitious pub cooking before closing and reopening under chef Henry Harris as the Hero, sometimes styled the Hero of Maida. The building itself dates to the Victorian expansion of Maida Vale, and its large windows and high ceilings have been kept as a backdrop for a kitchen that leans towards confident, produce-led British and French cooking rather than standard gastropub fare.
On tap
A well-chosen wine list geared to the kitchen, alongside a modest beer selection.
Food
Confident, chef-led British and French cooking, well above the standard gastropub bar.
