About The Coach and Horses
A Grade II-listed survivor from 1744 on the corner of Hill Street and Hay's Mews, reopened in August 2026 after a Shepherd Neame refurbishment that kept its listed bar.
Not to be confused with its more famous Soho namesake, this Hill Street Coach and Horses claims the title of Mayfair's oldest surviving pub, established in 1744 and Grade II listed since 1987. Shepherd Neame took it over in 2026 and closed it for three weeks in August for a refurbishment: the exterior was redecorated with a new swing sign and a red lantern over the door, the interior was refreshed with new flooring and furniture, and the terrace gained heated awnings while keeping its traditional barrels. The listed bar was preserved, and the pub reopened on 25 August 2026 with a new food offer built around flatbreads and charcuterie boards.
On tap
Shepherd Neame's Kentish ales and lagers, alongside English wines, spirits and soft drinks.
Food
Speciality flatbreads and charcuterie boards, introduced when the pub reopened in August 2026.
