About The Only Running Footman
Trading since 1749 under a name recalling the liveried household staff of Berkeley Square, with a proper cask ale bar downstairs and dining above.
Originally the Running House, this Charles Street institution has served Mayfair since 1749, its name eventually settling on the wry, singular Only Running Footman — a nod to the servants of nearby grand houses who once used it as their local. It remains one of the area's oldest continuously licensed pubs, its ground floor kept properly pub-like with cask ales and bar snacks, while an upstairs restaurant handles more serious dining for the Mayfair lunch crowd.
On tap
A rotating cask ale selection alongside a Mayfair-appropriate wine list.
Food
Hearty pub classics downstairs, with a more refined seasonal menu served upstairs.
