About The Garrison
A well-regarded gastropub on Bermondsey Street known for its salvaged, shabby-chic interior, weekend brunches and a miniature basement cinema.
Opened in the mid-2000s as Bermondsey Street was starting to shed its industrial past, the Garrison set the tone for the gastropub wave that followed along the street, with a look built almost entirely from reclaimed shop fittings, church pews and mismatched furniture. It's owned by Young's, who took over what had been an independent success story, and it still runs a kitchen-led operation with a daily-changing menu and a reputation for weekend brunch queues. Down a narrow staircase is a genuinely tiny private cinema room, seating a couple of dozen people, which can be hired for screenings — a quirky holdover from the pub's earlier, more bohemian ownership.
