About Great Northern Railway Tavern
A Grade II-listed pub built around 1900 on Hornsey High Street, taking its name from the Great Northern Railway line whose station sits close by, and run by Fuller's since 2017.
Built at the turn of the 20th century and listed Grade II, the pub takes its name from the Great Northern Railway, whose main line runs immediately behind Hornsey station just up the road, and which shaped the growth of Hornsey as a commuter suburb in the Victorian era. Fuller's has run the pub since 2017, giving it the brewery's usual polish — real ales, a solid food menu and a comfortable, slightly upmarket dining-pub feel — while retaining the listed building's period exterior. It sits at the heart of Hornsey's small but tightly packed high street pub cluster, within a few minutes' walk of both Three Compasses and Hornsey station itself.
