About The Old Ship Inn
An 1877 pub down a narrow path off Mare Street, refurbished in 2014 and known locally as much for its jerk chicken kitchen as its beer.
Reached down Sylvester Path, a narrow corridor just off Mare Street near Hackney Empire, the Old Ship dates to 1877. A 2014 refurbishment gave it a more upmarket finish without losing the building’s bones, and it still has rooms upstairs, giving it something of a small inn’s dual role. Four hand-pumps keep a rotating cask selection going alongside the jerk chicken that has become its main draw.
On tap
Four cask hand-pumps (Five Points, Redemption, Twickenham among them) and real cider.
Food
A jerk chicken kitchen; dog-friendly throughout.
