About The Prince George
An 1850s corner pub with an outstanding intact Victorian interior — a mirrored, Ionic-columned bar-back that has survived more than a century of Dalston changing around it.
The Prince George dates to the 1850s and was once a Whitbread house; what makes it worth the detour today is the interior, which CAMRA singles out as one of the borough’s best-preserved — a three-bay mirrored bar-back framed by Ionic columns, panelled dado rail, tiled fireplaces and a run of small, separate rooms rather than one knocked-through space. A stuffed bird or two and a bust presiding over the bar add to the sense of a pub that has quietly resisted the last thirty years of Dalston.
On tap
Timothy Taylor Landlord plus one changing guest cask ale.
Food
A pool table rather than a kitchen; weekend bar snacks.
