About Prince of Peckham

An independent, community-focused pub near Peckham Rye station, opened by local owners as a deliberate alternative to chain-run bars, with regular DJ nights and events.

Opened in 2017 by a small group with deep roots in Peckham, the Prince of Peckham was conceived explicitly as a community pub — a corner boozer that would reflect the area's history and its current, rapidly changing population rather than importing a template from elsewhere. It has become a genuine local hub, hosting DJ nights, community fundraisers and markets alongside normal pub trade, and its independence has occasionally been tested by pressure to sell the freehold, which the current operators have fought to hold onto. The pub sits just off Peckham High Street near the station, with a straightforward, unpretentious drinks and bar-snack offering that keeps the focus on the room itself.
