About Red Lion & Sun

A Highgate village pub rebuilt in 1928 in 1920s Elizabethan style, with panelling, a cast-iron stove, a log fire and two gardens.

A pub has stood on North Road since at least 1785, and the Red Lion & Sun was rebuilt in 1928 in a 1920s Elizabethan style. Inside there is light green painted panelling, a cast-iron stove, a carved back bar and a collection of old prints, china dogs and toby jugs, with a log fire in winter. It has both a front and a back garden, welcomes dogs, is listed as an Asset of Community Value and, like the Wrestlers, takes part in the Highgate "Swearing on the Horns" ceremony.

On tap

Timothy Taylor Landlord is the regular cask ale, with guest beers on occasion.

Food

Food is served at lunchtime and in the evening.
