About Royal Oak, Harlesden
A locally listed pub rebuilt in Elizabethan Revival style in 1891-3 on Harlesden High Street, its Park Parade entrance carrying tilework depicting a scene from 1651, run today by Craft Union.
The Royal Oak occupies one of Harlesden High Street's most architecturally distinctive buildings, rebuilt between 1891 and 1893 in a mock-Elizabethan style with decorative half-timbering and, at its Park Parade entrance, a tiled panel depicting a historical scene dated 1651. The multiple original entrances hint at a Victorian layout of separate public and saloon bars, since opened up into one space. It closed in November 2023 and reopened after a six-figure investment from Urban Pubs & Bars and current operator Craft Union, part of Stonegate, which added a feature staircase and an upstairs bar while keeping the locally listed exterior and period detailing intact. It now runs as a community-facing pub with a garden, function space and regular live music.
