About The Bill Nicholson
An independent Spurs-themed pub near the old White Hart Lane site, reputedly where Tottenham Hotspur players once changed before matches, renamed and remodelled in 2005 to honour manager Bill Nicholson.
Before it was renamed, the pub traded as the Northumberland Arms and, according to local history repeated by the pub itself, was once used by Tottenham Hotspur players as a changing room in the days before White Hart Lane had proper facilities. A substantial renovation in 2005 rebranded it entirely around Bill Nicholson, the club's most successful manager, who led Spurs to the League and FA Cup double in 1960-61. The pub closed for a period before reopening in 2019, and came under new independent management in December 2023, since when it has run all day every day rather than opening only for matches. CAMRA lists it as independent. It remains a strongly Spurs-branded pub aimed squarely at fans heading to games at the nearby stadium, a short walk from where White Hart Lane itself once stood.
